These Dodge Hellcats Proved Too Much Machine For Their Drivers 26
Dec
Posted by Carscoops Staff in Accidents, auction, Dodge, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, Hellcat, SRT on 12 26th, 2017

Weighing well over 4,000 pounds with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 sending over 700 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels, the Hellcat version of either the Dodge Charger or Challenger is a whole lot of machine to handle, to say the least.

Too much for most of us, to be sure, and evidently far too much for the unfortunate drivers of these examples.

Head over to Copart and you’ll currently find no fewer than 11 Hellcats that have been written off by their insurers, their salvageable remains to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. (We didn’t find a single Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, though.)

Now while Copart doesn’t give the full story of what happened to each of the cars it’s auctioning off, it’s clear that not all 11 of these were totaled by drivers who were in over their heads. One, for example, suffered from some mechanical issue (ostensibly from having been even further modified). Another seems to have sat out in a hail storm, likely leaving its oily bits in tact but damaged the outside. And another was stripped down to its shell (maybe after an accident, maybe not).

The damage to the others appear to have resulted from crashes: damage to the front end, damage to the rear end, a complete rollover, or even having burned practically down to the ground. And while we can’t say for sure it was the driver’s fault, we wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case with most of them.

Seven Impossible Car Mashups That’ll Make Or Break Your Day 17
Dec
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in BMW i8, Bugatti Chiron, Chevrolet Camaro, Classics, Dodge Charger, Ferrari LaFerrari, Fiat, Ford GT, Lamborghini Aventador, nissan gt-r, Nissan Juke, Pagani Huayra, Renderings, VW Beetle on 12 17th, 2017

Some car designs just don’t mix, and trying to force them together could make you lose your appetite. You’ve been warned.

First, worry not, because your eyes are not deceiving you. You truly are looking at seven of the most “unholy” car mashups we’ve ever seen. The only thing missing is for these cars to suddenly start speaking Latin and laugh maliciously.

But before we go looking for a priest, let’s run through each of these images, courtesy of Click Mechanic, and at least try to make some sense of what we’re looking at.

Let’s start with the Batmobile wannabe, you know, because at least it looks drivable.

#1 BMW i8 + Dodge Charger

The classic Charger and the modern BMW i8 couldn’t be more different. One is a plug-in hybrid with sporty features and futuristic looks, while the other is a gas guzzling muscle car that will mostly drive sideways if you don’t stay off the throttle.

Put them together and you might get something like this thing, which features a massive V8 with a blower, chrome bits on the wheel arches and a NASCAR-style spoiler at the rear. It’s weird, but at least it looks like it would be fun to drive, right?

#2 Bugatti Chiron + VW Beetle

This one makes sense from a branding standpoint, since VW owns Bugatti. You’ve got the all-new Chiron hypercar in one corner, and the classic VW Beetle in the other.

Make sure to take it all in, from the heavy chrome bumpers and alloys to the Beetle fenders. Overall though, you might as well put Dick Dastardly and Muttley in this car and call it a day, because it’s really wacky.

#3 Pagani Huayra + Chevy Camaro

Here’s another one you might be tempted to at least drive, since it’s comprised of a Pagani Huayra and a classic Chevrolet Camaro. It’s rugged American muscle meets crafty Italian engineering.

It’s got headlights from both vehicles, classic wheels, plus another NASCAR-style spoiler, just like on the i8 Charger. We’re not so sure about its aerodynamic properties though.

#4 Nissan GT-R + Nissan Juke

Another family affair, this time from Japanese automaker Nissan. It actually looks kind of cute, if we’re being honest, but don’t let that stop you from letting us know how much you hate it, if that’s the case.

Besides, if you’re a GT-R fan, the last thing you want is for it to be associated with something like the Juke, an urban-oriented crossover that never even got to break the Internet.

#5 Ford GT + Ford Raptor

If somebody ever managed to actually build this car, the waiting list on it might actually match that of the regular Ford GT. The mashup shows a very aggressive vehicle, one that should have no problem with going off-road, while able to win plenty of straight line races as well.

In a way, it’s the best of both worlds. The only thing missing is room for more passengers and luggage.

#6 Lamborghini Aventador + Lamborghini Tractor

If you want to take Lamborghini back to its early beginnings, you could then try to build something like this Aventador-inspired tractor and it probably wouldn’t be all that hard either.

All you need is the tractor, plus an Aventador front fascia, which doesn’t even have to come from the real car – some people can just make those for themselves. As for this one, it also features a massive winch and a connector for fitting it with a large plow.

#7 Ferrari LaFerrari + Fiat Multipla

This is a really fascinating combination, in the sense that on one hand you’ve got arguably the most beautiful car ever built in the LaFerrari, and then you’ve got one that many consider the ugliest car ever, in the Fiat Multipla. We can call this either the LaFiat or the LaMultipla, you decide.

The contrast between the two speaks volumes, and in a weird way, they kind of match, since they’re both Italian…but let’s not kid ourselves. Consider the hypercar properly insulted.

Viper-Powered Dodge Charger Leaves Jay Leno Impressed 11

One of the most popular show cars in this year’s SEMA was arguably this heavily modified 1968 Dodge Charger.

It took Johan Eriksson and his team a full five years to complete their masterpiece and just by looking at it, you know that there isn’t a single nut and bolt left in its original state.

Under the hood now lies a Viper-sourced V10 engine that also happens to have gained a pair of turbos for a total output of 1,000hp. Paired to it is a proper manual six-speed gearbox, which should make driving this monster down the road a rather interesting experience.

The whole car is based on the platform of a Corvette C6, which makes sense if you think what 1,000hp would do to the original chassis. The roof was also chopped by 40mm to make it prettier while the ridiculously large wheels are custom-made, measuring 24×15.5(!) inches at the rear and 22×11 inches at the front.

What makes this custom Charger however stand out is the attention to the detail inside and out. Jay Leno shows us around this Swedish-built monster Charger, so let’s keep our jaws secured in place.

Here’s A Take On The Facelifted 2019 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat 17
Nov
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in Dodge, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, Hellcat, Renderings, SRT on 11 17th, 2017

It’s hard to believe that more than three years have passed by since Dodge first introduced us to the Charger SRT Hellcat, isn’t it?

During this time, the super saloon has proved its credentials against some very powerful machines, coming out on top in most cases. An entirely new generation of the Charger and Challenger will reportedly make their way onto the market in 2021, but before they do, Dodge will update both cars in 2019.

So what should we expect from the two popular vehicles? Well, according to Enoch Gabriel Gonzales’ vision, plenty of visual drama, as his renderings are very optimistic, to say the least.

The artist has focused on the range-topping version of the Charger, the SRT Hellcat, fitting it with new bumpers and lights and toning down some of its aggressive lines. While the front end looks quite nice, the rear isn’t exactly appealing with those gigantic taillights.

Of course, we will have to wait at least one more year before seeing what the FCA-owned brand has in store for the Challenger and Charger, and if their upgrades will include any work carried under the hood of the Hellcats, although with 707 HP at their disposal already, we doubt anyone would mind if Chevy left the supercharged V8 well alone.
