Audi Decides Against Selling Ducati 13
Dec

Audi chief executive Rupert Stadler has revealed that the company has abandoned its plans to sell Italian motorcycle brand Ducati.

The automaker had planned to sell Ducati in order to free up cash but speaking with Reuters recently, Stadler revealed that Audi’s closer relationship to Porsche and steps to reduce costs by roughly $11.8 billion will allow it to retain ownership of the motorcycle brand.

“I can assure you that Ducati belongs to the Audi family. Ducati is the perfect implementation of our premium philosophy in the world of motorbikes,” Stadler said, defiantly.

Audi purchased Ducati in 2012 and as recently as May this year, there were reportedly four companies looking to make bids at purchasing the brand. However, confirmation from Stadler that no sale is on the cards ends almost two years of rampant rumors suggesting such.

Stadler added that the costs of Audi shifting towards zero-emissions makes it vitally important to retain ownership of Ducati and Lamborghini, two companies that are profitable.

“Looking after a premium bouquet is as difficult as the work of a gardener. Therefore I am pleased with every new flower, with every promising new branch,” Stadler said.

Ducati Is Opening A Theme Park In Italy 11
Dec

If Ducati, as has often been said, is to the motorcycle business what Ferrari is to automobiles, we shouldn’t be the least bit surprised to find the famed Italian motorcycle manufacturer taking another page out of the Ferrari playbook by opening its own theme park.

Ducati World is set to open in 2019 within the Mirabilandia theme park in the same Emilia-Romagna region of Italy that Ducati calls home.

The 8.6-acre facility will encompass Ducati-themed roller coasters, virtual reality simulators, showrooms, restaurants, and (of course) shops where visitors will be able to buy Ducati merchandise.

“Ducati World will give visitors a chance to live an exciting journey inside the Ducati brand”, said Ducati’s licensing director Alessandro Cicognani. “Thanks to this agreement, together with Parques Reunidos we’re developing the first motorcycle themed area in an Italian amusement park. Mirabilandia’s location, at the heart of the Motor Valley, adds further value to this project dedicated to fun.”

The project would ostensibly seek to emulate the success of Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, which has already branched out to a second Ferrari Land (part of PortAventura) in Spain. Formula One had planned a similar site in Dubai, but the project does not appear to have panned out.

Ducati’s Stunning New Panigale V4 Flagship Supersport Bike [w/Video] 6
Nov
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in Ducati, motorcycles, video on 11 6th, 2017

As the official replacement of the iconic 1299, the all-new Panigale V4 is here to take its rightful place on top of Ducati’s supersport range, offering MotoGP-derived technology for the road.

The Panigale V4 was developed in close collaboration with Ducati Corse, which is how the bike received its racing pedigree. Powering it is a 4-cylinder engine with a 90° V cylinder layout, a first for mass-produced Ducati motorcycles.

Buyers can order one of three versions: the standard Panigale V4, the Panigale V4 S and the Panigale V4 Speciale, which packs a little more power, among other things.

In the Panigale V4, the 1,103 cc 4-cylinder engine produces 214 HP (157.5 kW) at 13,000 rpm, as well as 124 Nm (91.5 lb-ft) of torque at 10,000 rpm. The V4 S version is just as powerful, yet weighs less by 1kg (2.2 lbs). However, it also adds a refined Ohlins suspension with Smart EC 2.0 and components like the aluminum forged wheels and a lithium-ion battery.

Meanwhile standard features on all versions include Ducati Power Launch, Ducati Quick Shift, full-LED headlight with Daytime Running Light, Sachs steering damper, quick control selection and automatic switch-off for turn signals.

As for the limited edition V4 Speciale (1,500 units), it weighs 173 kg (381 lbs), slightly less than the other two, while putting down 226 HP for a little extra punch. It also has a special three-color livery, a titanium exhaust system and an Ultrasuede seat.
