As promised, DC Shoes has released the official ‘Ken Block Gymkhana 5 – The Ultimate Urban Playground; San Francisco’. In terms of pushing the envelope even further, I think it is safe to say they have accomplished just that. Just when you thought the previous 4 Gymkhana’s could not be topped, Ken Block takes Gymkhana 5 to another level. I won’t bore you with spoilers or what I thought of the ridiculous stunts performed in Gymkhana 5, I will just let you see for yourself below. Enjoy!

I’m on a barge in the middle of San Francisco Bay and my name is Ken Block. What am I doing? If you guessed filming part of Gymkhana 5 then you would be correct and quite in-tuned to what DC Shoes has in store for the latest Hooning from Ken Block.

Last week we posted a teaser of what we would expect in the upcoming Gymkhana 5 filmed in San Francisco. As an EPIC follow-up, an official teaser has been released revealing how the filming and production crew expects to take Gymkhana to a new level. By the looks of this Gymkhana 5 teaser video below, we will not be disappointed.

Being the new King of automotive showmanship, Block has set out to the streets of San Francisco in his modified Ford Fiesta for the highly anticipated Gymkhana 5.

DC AND KEN BLOCK PRESENT GYMKHANA FOUR: THE HOLLYWOOD MEGAMERCIAL

Universal Studios Will Never Be The Same

August 16, 2011 – Huntington Beach, CA – Today DC and Ken Block released the
highly anticipated Gymkhana FOUR video on YouTube.com. Ken Blockʼs Gymkhana
FOUR: The Hollywood Megamercial takes production and concept to the next level,
surpassing all of the previous films in Block’s hit viral series, which have amassed over
110 million views to date. In line with the style of Ken Blockʼs Gymkhana TWO: The
Infomercial, this video, which was filmed at Universal Studios Hollywood, brings focus
back to high production camera work, 1000 fps slow motion, plus a bit of comic relief.
From robotic sharks, deranged zombies, stunt men in gorilla suits, and massive
pyrotechnics to intense, 100-percent raw, flat-out driving and copious amounts of tire
smoke, Ken Block and his Ford Fiesta Hybrid Function Hoon Vehicle (H.F.H.V.) bring the
magic of Hollywood and gymkhana together.

Known as the place where movie magic begins, Block took over the backlots of
Universal Studios Hollywood, converting them into a giant playground for GYM4. Filmed
over the course of five days, iconic movie locations and backdrops provided real-world
obstacles, which increased both the danger and difficulty of the course and tricks.
“With each Gymkhana film, we’ve raised the bar, making it tougher and tougher to outdo
ourselves,” said Block. “So we opted to go over the top on FOUR with a big Hollywood
production and Universal Studios provided the perfect place for it. The backlots provided
real life obstacles, plus an extremely varied collection of settings all just minutes from
each other. Without question, Gymkhana FOUR is the most ridiculous film we’ve done
yet, but itʼs also packed with some of the hardest and most dangerous driving I have
done in these films.”

Paying homage to iconic Hollywood movies, the video opens with Block and his H.F.H.V.
blazing through the War of the Worlds set. He drifts past the famous clock tower from
Back to the Future and screeches through Psychoʼs Bates Motel. Block and his H.F.H.V
then proceed to rip through Whoville, coming face to face with Jaws. The video wraps
with the perfect movie star ending and a surprise Bollywood tribute that could make
Slumdog Millionaire pant.

Block and his team brought out the big guns on Gymkhana FOUR by joining forces with
famed director Ben Conrad and his production company LOGAN, one of the most
respected Hollywood production houses in the business. Known for his work on
Zombieland, famous iPod commercials, and most recently as title designer on 30
Minutes or Less, Conrad had a distinct vision and plan for the Gymkhana FOUR video.
Conrad utilized the most innovative technology in cameras, lighting and effects, including
a revolutionary GoPro array camera setup that was custom fabricated to allow multiple
GoPro cameras to be strung together to shoot footage in unison, creating a Matrix-style
bullet time effect.

“The Ken Block Gymkhana videos have become a viral phenomenon, so we really
wanted to take it even further and blow everyone away with this video,” said Jeff Taylor,

Every Hollywood action star needs a great sidekick and in Gymkhana FOUR, Blockʼs is
none other than his new 2011 Ford Fiesta H.F.H.V, a unique race car built by the
Monster World Rally Team to be transformed for Block to compete in Stage Rally,
Rallycross and Gymkhana. For this film, the H.F.H.V. was putting down 600hp and
665lb-ft of torque through a custom 6-speed sequential gearbox thatʼs mated to a
mechanical all-wheel-drive system. At only 2,755 lbs, the H.F.H.V. does the sprint from
zero to 60 in an astonishing 1.9 seconds, giving McFly’s DeLorean a serious run for its
money to 88 mph.

Fellow YouTube sensations and friends, Epic Meal Time-ranked no. 14 on YouTubeʼs
most subscribed to videos list-also make a hilarious cameo in the video. The Epic Meal
Time guys actually set the bacon down for a moment as Block tears through their set

Featured in the opening credits, the Ken Block Teamworks Collection is a character of its
own, putting the Megamercial in GYM4. Making their debut for the first time, the KB
Spartan Mid, the KB Summit Jacket, and the KB Stripe Hat were designed specifically by
Block for the launch of Gymkhana FOUR and will be available online as of mid-August.

It never ceases to amaze me how much of a hoon I want to be after watching any one of Ken Block’s Gymkhana videos. Words sometimes cannot describe how entertaining they are which is why the action must go on in the upcoming Gymkhana 4 video.

Ken Block has released the first teaser video for the upcoming Gymkhana 4 showing flames being thrown from his Ford in front of 9 GoPro cameras. We cannot wait to see the epic proportions of hoonary in Gymkhana 4.

Ken Block Takes Gymkhana To A Whole New Level With Ultimate Playground Concept

September 14, 2010 – HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – DC and Ken Block are proud to announce the release of the newest video in the widely successful Gymkhana franchise with Gymkhana THREE, Part 2; Ultimate Playground; l’Autodrome, France. Following up Part 1; The Music Video Infomercial, this action-packed video focuses on the acclaimed raw driving style seen in the original Gymkhana Practice. DC Co-Founder/Chief Brand Officer and World Rally Championship driver, Ken Block scoured the globe to find the “Ultimate Playground,” an amazing location that allowed Ken to take Gymkhana to a new, groundbreaking level in his Ford Fiesta. “The stunts I perform in Gymkhana THREE, Part 2 are without a doubt the craziest stuff I have ever attempted behind the wheel,” said Ken. “We knew in order to out do the previous films, we’d really have to take it to the next level, and since you can’t kickflip a car, the location needed to allow me to do things never done before in car. Sure, I’ve seen people drift banks, but never ones this steep, and never head on. I treated the Autodrome’s 51-degree wall like a quarter pipe and it was awesome. Awesomely sketchy! Who knew you could do a wall ride in a car?”

Shot in Linas, just south of Paris, France at l’Autodrome de Linas –Montlhéry, the 1.58- mile oval track, built in 1924, features banks as steep as 51 degrees, which is more than double the standard incline of most NASCAR ovals. Chosen by Ken for this specific reason, the ramp-like banking proved to be a unique and exciting challenge. The driving physics for the stunts Ken did were completely unknown until he actually attempted them. Look for insane moves throughout the video including the ultimate trick- a 360 alley-oop performed at the top of the bank, as well as a 1440 (thatʼs 4, 360 degree spins!) in the rain, new multi directional Segway donuts, 360 bank spins and tire-killing donuts, to name a few.

“The originality and performance in this video is truly next level,” said DCʼs President, Anton Nistl. “We are so proud of the entire Gymkhana series and weʼre excited to show the public the next chapter in creativity and innovation from DC and Ken Block. Recent accolades have placed DC as the most successful footwear and apparel company to ever market in the digital marketing space. Not to mention that Gymkhana TWO is also considered to be the biggest viral automotive ad of all time. These are both huge accomplishments for us.”

A “star” of the video in its own right, the Gymkhana THREE 2011 Ford Fiesta was specʼd out and designed specifically for this project. Built by Olsbergs Motorsport Evolution, the Fiesta features a heavily-modded Duratec 2.0l engine that produces a staggering 650 horses with 660 lb-ft of torque. All this power in a 2,425 lb chassis creates a super-car beating power-to-weight ratio. Running from a stop to 60 mph in a staggering 1.9 seconds beating even the Bugatti Veyron, the carʼs speed is only one part of the package. What makes Kenʼs Fiesta unique is how it is intended to handle and slide on tarmac-like a rally car on gravel.

The overall design and livery featured on the Fiesta is an evolution of Kenʼs current MWRT competition cars. Main features include Kenʼs signature paint drip graphic as well as the personalized KB logo treatment including Kenʼs signature “Block” lettering and # 43 graphic designed by famous graphic illustrator, toy designer and street culture artist, Huck Gee. Kenʼs newest DC apparel, footwear and accessories, which can be seen in both parts of the Gymkhana THREE Project, were also inspired by the colors and graphics of Kenʼs racing cars.

The DC x Ken Block Gymkhana video franchise now consists of seven videos including Gymkhana Practice, Bonus Edit, TWO, 2.1; the educational anniversary video, Hot For Words, and now the two part Gymkhana THREE Project.
