Opel wants to make your Crossland X more practical, comfortable, and safer with a host of original accessories.

Aside from the OPC styling elements, meant to make the subcompact crossover look more stylish, Opel offers a variety of options, including roof boxes, mud flaps, door sill panels with LED illuminated Opel logo, stable grille in the boot area and winter tires.

The automaker claims that the Thule carrier system can hold up to six pairs of skis and up to four snowboards, and this can be complemented by the Execellence roof box that can be attached to the base roof carrier. The latter can be opened from both sides and provides the much needed luggage space for long vacations with the family.

Inside, owners of the Opel Crossland X can get the numerous FlexConnect items, which are easy to attach and remove from the front head restraints. These include holders for various devices, hooks and hangers useful for shopping bags and clothing, and folding table with integrated cup-holder.

Finally, the German car brand offers several child seats and restraint systems for all age groups, which are compliant with the latest EU safety regulations, and can be bought online or through selected dealers, just like the rest of the accessories.

The upcoming Mercedes A-Class will be the company’s first model to use the innovative MBUX infotainment system, which was presented at this year’s CES in Las Vegas.

UX stands for user experience, with Mercedes claiming that their new infotainment system has the ability to learn thanks to artificial intelligence. A-Class customers will be given the option of three different versions: the basic version with dual 7-inch displays, a mid-level system with one 7-inch and one 10.25-inch screen and a range-topping dual 10.25-inch display system, offering a resolution of up to 1920×720 pixels (200 dpi).

Everything is controlled either via touch or intelligent voice control, with the system utilizing a touchscreen, touch-control buttons on the steering wheel and a new touchpad on the center console with haptic feedback. Connectivity options include everything from Apple CarPlay to Google Android Auto and even Baidu CarLife for cars sold in China. There are two classic USB ports and one USB Type-C for faster charging.

Mercedes says that the voice control works with natural speech recognition and is activated by simply saying “Hey Mercedes”. The language assistant’s ability to identify indirect speech means that the user can say things like “I am cold” instead of the clear command “Temperature to 24 degrees” in order to operate the climate control.

“New technologies must focus on the people using them and make their life simpler. That’s why we combine intuitive and natural operation with intelligent and learning software in MBUX”, says Ola Källenius, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG responsible for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development.

The new infotainment system will also debut the latest Mercedes me connected services which will offer services like sending a message when the parked vehicle is damaged or moved, a virtual key on the smartphone that works via NFC and geographical vehicle monitoring to notify the owner if the car is being driven on routes not permitted, among other.

As for the hardware, the new MBUX system packs 8GB of RAM memory, a six-core CPU and two different graphics chips from NVIDIA, depending on which version of the system you go for. Mercedes’ new MBUX infotainment uses the Linux operating system. Mercedes says that their new infotainment system will equip its compact model range, at least initially.

Rolls-Royce Dealership Hosts £38,000 Elysium-R High-Tech Chair 8
Jan
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in Gadgets, Reports, Rolls-Royce, Tech on 01 8th, 2018

Dubbed the world’s most advanced chair, the Elysium-R will be on display at Rolls-Royce’s London dealership until January 19th, parked next to the all-new Phantom.

What makes the Elysium-R so advanced is the fact that it neutralizes gravity, implementing flotation theory, all for the price of £38,000 ($51,456).

It features near-black pure aniline leather, a black chrome-plated stainless steel base, an almond gold frame and gel-filled armrests, and only 18 units will be made available worldwide for sale.

Its gel-filled armrests supposedly mimic the quality of human skin, but if overall quality is second to technology in your book, then consider that the Elysium-R’s unique flotation mechanism is derived from years of research into human kinetics, allowing users to move silently in zero-gravity conditions.

The technology that controls the chair’s movements actually comes from a mathematical model written by its designer and founder, Dr David Wickett. Once you sit in it, you can manipulate it into your ideal position by simply shifting your weight around, similar to how a rider can gently alter the path of his motorcycle.

There are also a few health benefits to consider, such as improved blood circulation, less demand placed on the heart and reduced back muscle activity.

“It’s a true honor to have Rolls-Royce Motor Cars London hosting the launch of Elysium-R – a product we’re incredibly excited about. This is without question the most elegant version of Elysium we have made, but with the same unprecedented and remarkable levels of comfort as the standard model,” stated Wickett.

Since unveiling the updated 2018 S-Class during last year’s Shanghai Auto Show, Mercedes hasn’t shied away from using as many superlatives as possible to describe it.

Even though the exterior didn’t undergo any major changes, the 2018 S-Class does feature a more aggressive front bumper, new headlights, a new radiator grille and darkened taillights with new LEDs at the rear.

Inside, it has a sportier, flat-bottom steering wheel (with touch-sensitive controls), an updated sound system, wireless charging, updated displays, plus the industry-first ENERGIZING Comfort feature, tailored to create a bespoke environment.

Another major selling point is made up of various semi-autonomous functions, such as Remote Parking Assist, Active Proximity Assist, Steer Assist, Lane Change Assist and Emergency Stop Assist.

When it comes to driving the S-Class, The 612 PS 4.0-liter biturbo V8 powering the S63 4MATIC+ should thrill just about anybody. In a straight line, it will take you from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.5 seconds, or 0-60 in 3.4 sec.

Are you a Tesla fan and want everyone to know it? Well, we have found the perfect Christmas gift for you.

What we have here is a Powerbank designed by the electric automaker for your smartphone. Priced at $45, the Powerbank takes design inspiration from Tesla’s supercharger monument at the Tesla Design Studio.

Without a doubt the coolest thing about the Powerbank is that it features a single 18650 cell with a 3350 mAh capacity, exactly the same battery cell used by both the Tesla Model S and Model X. The only differences is that the Model S and X use about 7000 of them.

Additionally, the Tesla Powerbank is suitable for all recent iPhone models and micro-USB equipped smartphones thanks to its integrated cables.

Santa should expect to see tech-heads requesting the Powerbank in their droves.
