Test Driver, Raffaele De Simone in a Ferrari 458 Speciale 3

This isn’t something you get to see everyday.

Ferrari’s test driver, Raffaele De Simone, recently did a video for Ferrari where he takes the viewers into his signature 458 Speciale for a ride around the track at Fiorano.

The Ferrari 458 Speciale is the track version of the 458 Italia and hence, is faster and produces more power. As De Simone takes the viewer for a virtual ride in the Speciale, he discusses some of the more important components of this very special car.

The best part of this video, however, is to see how nonchalant De Simone is about driving this beast (at a pretty high speed) around the track – whilst discussing it’s various components. A true testament to the incredible handling ability of the famous Ferrari test drivers.

Even if you are not a Ferrari fan, you will appreciate this man’s driving ability and the way he speaks about his beloved 458 Speciale.

As everyone knows, the CERAM track, laid out in a wooded estate is exclusively designed for high speed testing. It is considered ideal for the performance of all types of testing, along with public relations and training operations.

Hence it is not surprising that the car’s testers took the opportunity to get a top speed driving on the track.

The Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 is seen conquering the Italian race track on a recently uploaded video. The video, an amateur one, features a yellow Murcielago LP640 ascending the Italian tracks, taking few laps around the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza in the north of Italy.

The most notable aspect of the video is that it is soundtrack-free. The occasional or roars of the vehicle itself is featured as such, which in fact had turned out to be its own kind of music.

Lamborghini has a successor to the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. It is learnt that the upcoming auto is extremely lightweight as compared to its predecessor.

It comes with 700 hp and do the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in under 3 seconds. Certain images of the car were unveiled last month by the manufacturer. Once referred to as the Jota, the new vehicle will possibly be called the Aventador LP700-4.

A recent episode of the popular, long-running British television motor show, Fifth Gear featured the Pagani Zonda R super track car, which was checked out for speed via a test drive. To start off, the car is a beauty to behold, and the outstanding performance that was exhibited through the program makes this one vehicle that speed freaks will absolutely need to have.

Expertly driven by a host who used to be a professional race driver, the Zonda R had its limits tested. And with style and form, it held its own to come out distinctively as a class act – decisively occupying a space that no one else dares encroach upon.

Ferrari Virtual Academy Racing Simulator is Out 13
Posted by Alex Ion in Automotive News, Ferrari, Ferrari Virtual Academy, Mugello, Nurburgring, Virtual Rides on 09 13th, 2010

A new racing simulator has just come out from Ferrari. It’s called Ferrari Virtual Academy and through it, players can race on famous racing tracks like the Fiorano Circuit, Nurbugring and the Mugello Circuit.

Winners who excel at the virtual race stand to receive Ferrari products on a weekly basis. At the end of the tournament, the top five winners will win a trip to Maranello where they will get to be part of the Ferrari Driver Academy.

What’s really cool is that even without vying to be a winner, just the gaming experience will make one want to keep playing. The game is extremely realistic – the result of tedious information gathering on the part of the 15 developers who spent almost 12,000 hours developing the simulator.

Special attention has been given to the aerodynamics of the F10, suspension, tires, engine and transmission. Developers have also relied on actual helmet cam footage to ensure that the game realistically reproduces the visual from the driver’s point of view.

The Ferrari Virtual Academy: Fiorano Circuit is available for purchase and prices start at €14.90. Subsequent releases of the Mugello and Nürburgring circuits will cost upwards of €9.90.

Do cars dream?  Why shouldn’t they, right? Fancy this. Look what happens when two beauties made by BMW are parked side by side in a garage and lights switched off.

The two beauties – a BMW X5 and a BMW X6 equipped with BMW Performance accessories – parked in a garage and left to doze off would dream, or so we do imagine. It is all about how your inner eye sees it. We did that and got to see what they would do. What we saw is here in the form of a video.

Check it out and tell us if this is what you too have seen.
